What is it?
Understanding dermal
fillers.
Explore facial volume, material choices and the assessment behind an individual plan for dermal fillers.

Purpose
Volume & shape.
Dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid gel injected beneath the skin to add volume or alter facial contours. They are used for concerns such as cheek volume loss, lip shape and facial balance. The treatment area determines the intended change.

Material
Selected for your face.
Dr Abi uses the Teoxane RHA range and chooses the filler for your facial features and treatment needs. Product selection, amount and placement are explained as part of your proposed plan.

Individual choice
What suits your concern?
Dr Abi considers your facial anatomy, medical history and the change you would like to make. The consultation covers suitability, limitations and risks so you can decide whether the proposed treatment fits your priorities.
Treatment areas
One face.
Nine distinct areas.

01 · Midface
Volume & cheek shape.
Midface filler addresses cheek volume lost through ageing or weight loss. It can also be used to improve overall cheek shape, with the proposed placement tailored to your face.
02 · Lips
Shape, softness & hydration.
Lip filler can increase size, refine shape or improve hydration and softness. Dr Abi’s approach prioritises a natural-looking result that suits your features and the change you want to make.
03 · Tear troughs
The under-eye area.
Tear-trough filler addresses the under-eye area in carefully selected patients, with the aim of a more rested appearance. This area requires particular assessment of suitability and risks.
04 · Chin
Structure & facial balance.
Chin filler adds structure to the lower face and can help balance the facial profile. Dr Abi considers the chin in relation to your other features when planning treatment.
05 · Jawline
A smoother contour.
Jawline filler is used to create a smoother, straighter appearance along the jawline. The proposed placement depends on your anatomy and the contour you would like to address.
06 · Nasolabial folds
Nose-to-mouth lines.
Nasolabial folds run from the sides of the nose towards the mouth. Filler can help blend these folds while maintaining normal facial anatomy.
07 · Marionette lines
Mouth-to-jaw lines.
Marionette lines run from the mouth towards the jaw. Treatment addresses the downturned appearance of the mouth and the pre-jowl area, with the aim of a refreshed appearance.
08 · Perioral rejuvenation
Lines around the lips.
Perioral rejuvenation treats lines around the lips, sometimes called “smoker’s lines”. A soft filler is used to refresh the area and reduce the appearance of these lines.
09 · Temples
Volume in the upper face.
Temple filler restores volume in temples that have hollowed with ageing. The proposed treatment follows assessment of this area and its specific risks.
01 · Product selection
Selected for your features.
The proposed area, amount and placement follow an individual assessment of your face and needs. Treatment is not automatically appropriate for every concern.
02 · Technique & comfort
Needle or cannula.
Filler is placed using a needle or cannula. Local anaesthetic is used for some treatments to minimise discomfort; the technique depends on your plan.
03 · Recovery
Allow time to settle.
Bruising and swelling are common and usually relatively minor. Larger bruises can take 2–4 weeks to resolve. Your recovery may vary; follow your individual aftercare instructions.

Balanced expectations
Know the risks.
Understand the care.
Injections can cause swelling, bruising and tenderness. Serious complications include infection, blood-vessel blockage and harm to vision. Risks vary by area and product; an individual discussion is essential.
Your questions · before and after
01Is treatment right for everyone?
No. Your medical history, concerns and the proposed area need individual assessment. Treatment may not be appropriate; choosing not to proceed is valid.
02What should I allow for afterwards?
Bruising and swelling are common and usually relatively minor. Larger bruises can take 2–4 weeks to resolve. Recovery varies by area and individual response; avoid relying on a guaranteed recovery date.
03Can I exercise or use my usual skincare?
Follow your treatment-specific instructions about exercise, skincare and touching the area. Restrictions vary; ask for clear guidance for your proposed treatment.
04How do I arrange follow-up?
Before proceeding, clarify your follow-up arrangements and whom to contact with concerns. Ask how to obtain help outside the appointment.
05When should I seek urgent help?
Seek immediate medical assessment for unusual or severe pain, white, grey or blue skin near the injection site, or changes in vision. Do not wait for a routine follow-up.
A conversation, before a commitment
If you are considering facial volume or contour, choose a clinic to discuss fillers with Dr Abi. Bring your questions about materials, placement, risks and aftercare; a consultation does not commit you to treatment.
