Understanding your consultation
Understand the treatment.
Your individual plan.
Understand how treatment works, what it may address and how Dr Abi assesses suitability.

Your concern
Start with what you notice.
Dynamic lines are lines that appear or deepen when you move your face. Anti-wrinkle injections temporarily relax selected muscles to soften these expression lines. Treatment can also address certain concerns caused by overactive muscle movement.

Your expectations
Make room for questions.
The purpose depends on the area: softening forehead or eye lines, reducing how much gum shows when smiling, or reducing masseter muscle strength for facial slimming. Dr Abi explains the intended change for your concern.

Clinical assessment
Suitability comes first.
Dr Abi assesses your facial movement alongside your medical history, medicines, allergies and previous procedures. This helps establish whether treatment is suitable and what it may achieve. You can also choose not to proceed.
Treatment areas

01 · Forehead
Horizontal expression lines.
Forehead lines run horizontally across the forehead and become more noticeable when you raise your eyebrows. Treatment temporarily relaxes selected muscles to soften these movement-related lines.
02 · Frown
Between the brows.
Frown lines form between the eyebrows when you draw your brows together. Treatment reduces the activity of the muscles responsible, with the aim of softening these expression lines.
03 · Crow’s feet
Around the eyes.
Crow’s feet are expression lines at the outer corners of the eyes, often noticeable when smiling. Treatment aims to soften them by relaxing selected muscles around this area.
04 · Gummy smile
Smile balance.
A gummy smile shows a larger amount of gum above the upper teeth. Where excessive muscle activity contributes, treatment aims to reduce that movement and change how much gum shows when smiling.
05 · Lip flip
The upper-lip position.
A lip flip uses injections to relax selected muscle activity and change how the upper lip sits. It addresses lip position rather than adding volume in the way lip filler does.
06 · Dimply chin
Chin texture with movement.
A dimply chin can appear when the chin muscle contracts. Treatment aims to reduce overactive muscle strength and soften the dimpled appearance associated with movement.
07 · Downturned smile
The corners of the mouth.
A downturned smile describes mouth corners that turn downwards. Dr Abi assesses whether muscle activity contributes and whether relaxing selected muscles may address the concern.
08 · Masseters
Facial slimming.
The masseters are jaw muscles that can contribute to lower-face width. Treatment reduces their strength, with facial slimming as the cosmetic aim when this approach is appropriate.
09 · Neck
Selected neck muscles.
Neck treatment focuses on selected muscle activity. Dr Abi assesses the concern and your anatomy to explain which muscle-related changes treatment may address and its limitations.
01 · Treatment information
Muscle activity & expression.
Anti-wrinkle injections temporarily relax specific muscles. Treatment aims may include softening dynamic lines, improving a gummy smile or reducing the strength of overactive muscles. Results vary.
02 · Duration
Usually 3–4 months.
Dr Abi advises that these treatments usually last 3–4 months. The duration and any follow-up plan depend on your individual response and the option discussed.
03 · Technique & recovery
A small needle.
Treatment is injected with a small needle. Dr Abi reports discomfort as usually minimal; experience varies. Small bruises may occur and are usually minor. Ask about other risks and treatment-specific aftercare.

Your questions · before and after
01Does a consultation mean I will receive treatment?
No. Assessment may show that treatment is unsuitable. A consultation does not guarantee treatment or a prescription, and you can choose not to proceed.
02What should I discuss with Dr Abi?
Bring your concerns and expectations, and discuss medicines, allergies, medical history and previous procedures during the consultation. Keep medical details out of the general enquiry form.
03Will all my lines disappear?
No particular outcome is guaranteed. Ask which concerns an option may address, which it may not, and what a realistic individual aim would be.
04What should I know about recovery?
Small bruises can occur and are usually minor. Discomfort is generally reported as minimal, although experience varies. Follow your treatment-specific aftercare and allow for recovery when planning work or events.
05How is follow-up arranged?
Clarify the proposed follow-up and contact arrangements before proceeding. Ask whom to contact if you have concerns, and how urgent problems should be handled.
